The Bed In The Temple

You are a cultured girl,
a pretty little cultured pearl.
Just barely still a child,
you've never known the wild world.

When a consecrated finger
dug inside your shell
to show you to your new life
it must have felt like Hell.

Did he lay you in a bed of roses
and part your hidden self like Moses?
Are you older yet?
Do you feel saved?

What is it that you yearn for? Have you made it there? Have you learned a thing from giving mind and soul to the prophet of men who sold to you the ball and chain you wear?

Did he lay you in a bed of roses
and spread your hidden self like Moses?
Are you older yet?
Do you feel saved?
He takes the rod and breaks the stone.
Instead of water blood will flow.
In rapture now he cracks the tomb
with holy seed to sow your womb.
Are you older yet?
Do you feel saved?

Castor Without Pollux

You are a part of me
apart from me.

You and I were raised up in the sky
to show the world the glow inside our eyes.

We are stars
when we believe we are.
We are stars when we believe.

I see you in winter night
and summer sunlight.
There is empty space beside you
where I used to shine.

You watched me slowly fall so low
to where you could not follow.

I let in doubt
to take my light out.
I let in doubt to take my light.

You are a part of me
so far apart from me.

Ways and Wanderers

I attended a Mormon funeral today and was inspired to write this. The post-chorus and outro are old and the chorus is an old idea rewritten. The rest is new.

Note: Edited Oct. 27, 2008 and Nov. 7 2009 and Sept. 18, 2010

I have left the way
but I am not a wand'rer.
I will find you at the end.

My enemies light
fears of fire
that I will fight until the end.

Steady now your heartbeats.
As one sound the heart beats.

Take that cold graven cross
and heat it in (with) your heart
until you've found the end.

Beautiful, Beautiful Day

This is a lyric written a little over a year ago as a birthday present.

Beautiful, beautiful day
I'd spend no other way
than with you in my arms
and me in your arms.
When night comes we'll look to the stars.
We'll lie on our backs
and try to decide
which ones we are.

I will never let you go.
I will never let you feel alone.
Though we may be worlds apart
you'll be in my heart.

Deep into the night we will go
though we won't always know
just what to do
to get us through
to the other side of those woods.
When we find white moonlight
we'll seal our love tryst
with a soft kiss.

We'll wait till dawn.
and really, night's not that long
a time to wait compared to
the beautiful beautiful day
I'd spend no other way
than with you in my arms
and me in your arms.

In Spite Of What You Say

It's a little on the cute side. That's atypical for me.

The world is spinning around still
in spite of what you way.
You're just talking with your willy.
It's not as bad as all that now.
In spite of what you say
it's better than it was yesterday.

What has got you to thinking
that we've all been drinking
that silly stuff you're drinking.
Things just keep getting greener
In spite of what you say
you can't explain that away. No,
you've got to show me
where you were going. Oh,
but you'll never tell.

The world is moving around still
in spite of what you say
you're just talking with your willy.
It's so much better than you know.
Flying up here in this
fleet of clouds
I see it all
and it's making me homesick
Even though I'll be there
quicker than I ever dreamed.

As The Sun Settles

I wrote this today, which is pretty significant because I haven't written anything in months.

NOTE: edited on October 8, 2008

As the sun settles down
in the evening time,
the sky is colored in salmon
and steel
like a mind and heart melting into one
over their world.

It's been so long that I've lived my life
like a man looking for a wife
while still sleeping with a whore.

But not anymore.
Yeah, it's over now. It's over now

As the sun settles down.

The Son In Yours, The Sun In Mine

I followed you into the world.
You kept your soul sweet and sterile
while I threw my soul into peril.
I wish I'd never learned
how hard it is to burn ones self away.

I never could see black or white.
I still can't say which way was right.
Yours just seemed to me to be so narrow.
But in the end it might just be the one.

Oh, I don't know
how I'm getting home.
If I make it there
will you let me in?
(Your eyes reflect the Son.
They've been that way since we first began.)

Way back when went Mary's little Lamb of God
soaking in then bleeding out my sin.
A heart of gold is still a stone -- or so I thought.
If only it was easy to believe.

I'll follow you back to the light,
back to that old familiar glow
that we'll use to cure our blood and marrow.

Will they herald my return
or is that something I will never earn?

I wave, good-bye to the summer.
I feel that the fall is near
that leads straight down into winter
and round to a whole new year.
I'll find you again in the spring
in the way everything will turn green.
I'll feel that damned light in my heart
and start it all over.

Again Today

You're with me again today.
It's harder to live when you're away.
I know you won't stay.
But even for an hour
you know I would give all of my hours.
You take me from my head
and show me that I'm not so dead.
There is life in you
that keeps keeping me through.
Come on and start.
Get close to my heart.

It changes everything
just to hear your voice again
speaking sweetly to my ear.
I'll arrange my life
to keep you in it all the time.
It means so much to have you near.

I admit, I like your skin
and I've never felt like that's a sin.
Can we begin
to leave our shells behind.
I want to find
a better way in-
to your world my dear.
Let's strip down to our souls right here.
Can we shed our fear?
We're on each other's minds
and neither of us are the waiting kind.

(You're love's changing everything.)

The Dinosaur's Hymn

I fell into a crater
put there by the Creator.
He sent a fiery meteor,
a lovely falling star.

It blazed across the atmosphere
then shot straight to the ground.
It punched a hole into the heart
of a slightly younger Earth.

Now let's say a little prayer for the Dinosaur
who lived and died for our sake.
He left his body beneath the soil
that God then somehow changed to oil.
Then, with invention
of the combustion engine,
we were set free from our legs.
There's been a design
since the start of time.

I went into my heart
to meet up with my ghost.
We made a fiery toast
of bread and with wine.

We told ourselves we're doing fine
for the most part.
We've still got
some bad parts.

Oh, don't start all that up again!
Heaven's just not for me.
But I'll keep trying to be
heavenly.

Time will take us all.
We're all falling down that hourglass.
There's nothing you can do about that.
We're dust
riding on the winds within us
that blow when the burning of our hearts
meets the cold front of our brains.

Everything Unsinkable

I held you near
I held you dear
to me.
But fear will falter all.
I'll memorize
the hurt in your eyes
and make sure I never see it again.
That's all I want in this world.

Word's leaked like a bleeding pen.
What was never meant to hurt
just stained our best white shirts.
You said that we were unsinkable.
Like Titanic and the Bismarck
the unthinkable occurred.

Cumulus; The Worm; The Raging Prisoner

Cumulus

As the cumulus
starts to accumulate
I won't make a fuss
because I know my fate
is in good hands.

The Worm

On this tree
we've lived and grown
into what we are.
You fell to die
in a worm's eye view.
This branch feels so barren
without you.

The Raging Prisoner

Let me free!
Pounds the prisoner
raging against our vessels ribs.
Those eyes, once fires,
now smolder in their tears.

Old Juniper's Road; Sea Legs; A Dark Reflection

Old Juniper's Road

I sat beneath old Juniper.
Was he the plague or was he the cure?
Once I know how can I be sure?
And once I 'm sure how can I endure
to the end?
I've seen a hundred million lives bend
beneath God's stare.

Sea Legs

I still feel you in my body like a sailor feels the sea
Long after he is grounded on the beach permanently.
The sounds of your sighing never leave.

What I want to get from you is not your sympathy.
It's to finish what we started the night before you went away.
The sounds of your sighing never leave.
The sounds of your sighing never

leave.

A Dark Reflection

I chased my shadow;
I ran from the sun.
That dark reflection
I couldn't not know.

penal Fire

I watch the world through flaccid eyes as I
write my spirit into it.
I found some truth with Hell wrapped up inside.
It sent me reeling on the roast.

Can you feel the darkness in this fire?
It turns the Earth to winter.
As I am now bathed in it's crimson glow,
I'll soon be baptized in the snow.

Secure yourself young child:
The world is wild!
As you go into it,
Don't give in to it.

Spirit hands and
Serpent tongues;
The flickering flame
of a devil sun.

Southern Cross

I found you in the deepest south
where few explorers dare to go.
You showed me the chain that held you there.
It's a hell of a thing to know.

Without some fear of dying,
without the threat of deathly snow.
No hope or seed could ever grow.
The Master's served well from the realm below.

A starry cross pointed the way.
I admit I was ill prepared
To meet a beast for whom I cared.
For my own good, I let you go.

The Words

I can't find the word's to say...
I'll try some out anyway.
It's sinking into me.
I can't find the words to say...
When will Hope find her way
into my arms (and heart) again?

Through my window to the world
I see snow in wind blown wild.
As you cradle soft my head
I find death inside a seed.

You are a shadow on the sun,
You are the hand that breaks my bone.
You are a light lost in the mist,
A fallen lion in the dust.

You are a tree in poison rain,
You are a train that never ran.
You are my spirit haunting ruin.
You are an end that's come too soon.

Old and new snow
with the wind blows
through the hollows
of my hills.
All my pride goes
like the tide flows.
My poor ego
is shot to hell.
So

Make me again from this clay.
Take it all in your hand and make me a new way.
Raise me up out of the dust
then draw me in close to breathe into my lungs.

Make me alive again.

This Journal's Purpose

I made this journal to share my lyrical writing.
